COERR Mae Sarieng Organized Youth Training on New Normal Life during COVID-19 Pandemic

As the Virus Corona COVID-19 pandemic has been spreading all over the world, preventing measures have been made. In order to have youth, as the future of their community, participated in the prevention, COERR Mae Sarieng organized a youth training on New Normal Life during COVID-19 pandemic.

This activity was to have youth’s brainstorm about how the measures affected their way of living, and how they adjusted in the following situations: at home, at school and at public areas. Youth brainstormed and presented the new normal living that they needed to wear mask, no longer gather socially, sit and stand separately, wash hands frequently, close schools, cease all activities, etc. Such measures affected youth in healthcare, education, livelihood, way of living, culture and tradition, etc.

Next was “What would youth wish to tell…?”, in which the trainer challenged youth with further brainstorming about the following topics: 1. How do youth cope with the situation? 2. Does the pandemic change the community’s way of living and in what way? 3. What should be the roles of leaders that youth wish to see during the pandemic crisis.

The outcome of the brainstorms was as follows: youth would like to be advised how to take proper care of their hygiene. They also wished to see their community cleaner, healthier and free from communicable diseases. Moreover, they would like leaders to improve their community; and they also hope to have better nutrition.

In conclusion, COERR sees that the measures during the crisis of COVID 19 have enabled youth to pay more attention to their own health and hygiene, community cleanliness and their rights to be better care of.
